Interview with EYECANDYAIR Goalie mask customer Ontario Canada

EYECANDYAIR was able to catch up with a member of our goalie family
Stevie H. from Ontario- Canada
To do this special exclusive one-on-one interview!

ECA: What inspired you to be a goalie?
SH: Nothing really. In house league I played defense and we all took a turn as goalie. When I got my chance I wouldn't get out of the net. I loved stopping shots. Woo!

ECA: How old were you when you started?
SH: I was 8 years old when I started as a goalie.

ECA: What is the highest level you have played?
SH: The highest level I have ever played is AA, which is the highest level in girl's hockey.

ECA: Did you ever have a goalie coach?
SH: I have always had a goalie coach. In house league, my goalie coach was Bob Crosby. Today, my goalie coaches are Rick Wilson and Carlo Giancola.

ECA: What style of goaltending do you play?
SH: My type of goaltending is butterfly style.

ECA: How many times a week do you play?
SH: In the summer I play 2-3 times a week. This includes goalie clinics, and just some practice ice time. Also, in the summer I have six Canalan summer hockey tournaments. Depending on how far you make it in the tournament you can play up to 6 games. In the regular hockey season; I have 1 clinic, 2 practices, and 2 games (on average) per week.

ECA: What are your strengths?
SH: Well my parents say talking but...think that I have quick lateral movement, I have a fast glove hand and I am good at staying square to the puck.

ECA: Care to add weaknesses?
SH: I am working on being more active with my stick.

ECA: Who is your favourite NHL goalie?
SH: Oh....Good question! I would have to say Luongo, Ward, and Quick. But I have to say my all time favourite is Roy.

ECA: What type of gear are you wearing?
SH: I am wearing Brian's equipment.

ECA: What kind of mask are you currently wearing?
SH: I am wearing a Sportmask.....with a perfect, awesome, and wicked paint job.

ECA: Do you have any game superstitions?
SH: Many! I always wear my lime green Nike running shoes. I always have a blue hair clip to wear on the ice. If I eat at Subway before I play, I always have a good game. I throw my street clothes in a pile on the bench. I must put my right pad on first. I put my skull cap on before my chest protector and I put my jersey on before I put my arms in my chest protector. Finally, I take my helmet out of its' bag and look for any marks. Always!!!!

ECA: Any advice to other goalies out there?
SH: Keep trying and never give up. Always give it your all!!!!

ECA: Anything else you'd like to add?
SH: I LOVE MY NEW HELMET. I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE. Thanks Steve and Steph!
